You must have heard a lot about
NaOH compounds, especially when
working on problems related to
chemical reactions. However, do you
know what NaOH compounds actually
are? NaOH stands for sodium
hydroxide or sodium hydroxide
otherwise known as caustic soda or
caustic soda.

NaOH is also one of the alkaline memperbesar gambar
ionic compounds. Reported from
the
National Library of Medicine, sodium hydroxide when dissolved in air or
neutralized with acidic liquid will release enough heat to trigger
flammable materials, then NaOH will form a clear liquid that is thicker
than air. NaOH is corrosive so it can damage the skin tissue it hits
chemically. However, NaOH is also a caustic agent. Reported from the
National Library of Medicine, as a caustic agent NaOH destroys soft body
tissues resulting in deep and penetrating burns. Reporting from Vedantu,
NaOH that is exposed to the eye can cause overall burns resulting in eye
disorders to permanent blindness. Thus, if there is contact with NaOH the
eye or other body parts must be splashed with running water
continuously while waiting for medical help to arrive.
The ionization reaction of sodium hydroxide in water is as follows:
In the above discourse, why are sodium hydroxide compounds called
bases?
