DMTC Student Doing Big Things

BHS junior Kailey Tate burns up the track racing drag
cars at the Union County Dragway several times a
month. Kailey picked up the sport watching her dad dirt
track race growing up and has participated in drag rac-
ing the past 3 years. She took first place in the Points
Championship the last 2 years and finished third her
very first year racing. Kailey attends DMTC where she
currently takes Machine Tool and Mechatronics and will
complete both of those programs next semester. She
said she loves working with her hands, and it is what
motivates her to come to school. In her Machine Tool
class, she has fabricated several parts for her race car
and wants to continue a career in this field after high
school graduation. In addition to her hobby, she still
finds time to give to her community. Most recently, she
sponsored a car show this summer with 80+ partici-
pants and raised close to $4,000 for a building fund for
Hammett Grove Baptist Church where she attends. She
is a remarkable young lady who undoubtedly has a
         bright future ahead of her.
