Fade.
Never exceed the recommended strength peroxide, something to be aware
of is that once hydrogen peroxide is on the hair it will keep working until
it is cut off.
We see this as the ends fading and usually comb fresh colour through
when the client comes back to have the new growth coloured.
The highest degree of fade understandably happens on pre-bleached hair
so we can accept that and deal with it when we retouch the client’s new
growth.
Next to pre-bleached hair reds fade really fast, so to get the best and
longer lasting reds only use 6% peroxide and only apply to corresponding
natural base colours i.e., 6.26 + 6% on natural base 6 or 4.26 + 6% on
natural base 4.
Light brown and blonde shades, if mixed with 9% rather than 6% fade
faster as well (Fig 65.)
