St. Louis Chapter #22’s Albert Pike Camp, Heroes of ’76 , or Camp members, have earned the following
awards:
• In 2001, the Albert Pike Camp earned the General Jonathan Wainwright Award, an annual award to honor
the most outstanding Heroes Camp throughout the Order for the year
®
• In 2023, Paul DeMerath was awarded the Heroes of ’76 Hero of the Year Award
®
The following are notable Sojourners and Heroes of ’76 with a St. Louis background:
• Brother Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr. was a Medal of Honor recipient and a member of St. Louis Chapter #22
and Keystone Lodge #243, St. Louis, MO
• Brother Walcott Denison served as National Commander from 1938-1939. He was raised as a Master
Mason on 13 May 1911 in Pride of the West Lodge #179, St. Louis, Missouri
• Brother Ray Cunningham served as National President from 1967-1968
• Brother Ray Ely served as National President from 1970-1971
• Brother Daniel Taylor served as National Commander from 2001-2002, and he received the order’s highest
award, the Legion of Honor, in 2014
• Brother David Warburton served as National Commander from 2007-2008. Unfortunately, he passed away
during his term as National Commander
• Brother Paul DeMerath is currently serving as National Commander. His term runs from 2024-2025
• Brother Peter Cauchon is currently serving as National Chief of Staff. It is anticipated that he will serve as

the National Commander of the Heroes of ’76 from 2025-2026

Anniversary Celebration of St. Louis Chapter #22 would like to thank Brother Ed Nolte for his thoughtfulness
in composing the history of the Chapter.
