KNICKERBOCKER – WEST POINT #13 (LTC Jack H. Moore, Secretary).
On Sunday, 4 February, Sojourners met at West Point Lodge #877 in Highland Falls, NY for their
Chapter meeting and subsequent Heroes Initiation for the Israel Putnam – Nathan Hale Heroes Camp.
Future elections were discussed and we will formally vote at our May meeting. All officers agreed to
remain in their current positions with only Tom Horn replacing Avery Toledo as Chaplain. The
presentation of JROTC / ROTC awards was discussed and Moore shared that we support 15 to 20 schools
within NY State. Only the Long Island & West Point Chapters are the remaining Sojourner organizations
still active in the State. The presentation of a $100.00 - $250.00 book scholarship was agreed upon for a
deserving cadet. The primary purpose of our 4 February meeting was to honor Brother Ted Jacobsen who
has served as our Chapter President for the past 5 years. He was presented with a clock and a past
President’s Pin by our current President Ronald Pomerance for his years of service to our Chapter. Thank
you, Ted!! A May 2024 meeting was proposed for Sojourners, spouses & guests to gather at the Thayer
Hotel at West Point on Sunday 5 May for an 11:00 a.m. brunch. Following brunch, a free tour of the West
Point Museum & Visitors Center is being coordinated. There being no further business, the February
meeting was adjourned and all Heroes remained for a follow-on meeting and initiation of the Israel Putnam
          – Nathan Hale Heroes of ’76 Camp.
