FORT CAMPBELL CHAPTER #177/OLD HICKORY CAMP HEROES OF '76, (John A.
Routzahn, Jr., Secretary/Adjutant)
On January 31, 2024, two members of the Chapter and Camp participated in the annual "Veterans Day on the
Hill" event at the Tennessee Cordell Hull General Assembly Building in Nashville, TN. This annual event
allows state veterans to meet with their state legislators to discuss veteran-related legislation and issues.
Brothers Charles Griffin, Area 11 Representative, and Steve Singleton attended in colonial uniform. They
were joined by a military re-enactment group from eastern Tennessee, also dressed in military uniforms
throughout history. All of those who wore uniforms were complimented, not only by the attending veterans
but by the legislators as well. Brother Griffin was part of a group that also had their photograph taken with
Governor Lee during the event. Brother Singleton also assisted in the presentation of a Resolution to the 917
Society, recognizing September 17th as Constitution Day. The state's National Sojourners Chapters have
been a charter member of TNVET (Tennessee Veterans) which started the event in 2015."
