IN THE NEWS
INCENTIVES & AWARDS COMMITTEE
The National Sojourners Awards and Citations Handbook (27 March 2021) serves as a guide to available
awards and citations. The Handbook includes a short explanation of each award and citation as well as how
each may be awarded. The Awards and Citations Handbook has been updated (Appendix A) to show
references to the new Constitution and By-Laws. All forms have been removed because every time a form
changes we need to change the Handbook and they are also found on the web site. Since most of the Incentive
and Awards Committee’s work is accomplished between the MWM and the ANC this is a good time to remind
you of the following:
The Incentive and Awards Committee primarily manages these three most common awards and citations:
Presidential Citation
QUALIFICATIONS: National, Area, Chapter, and National Committee Sojourners who plan, lead, and
perform in an exemplary manner an act or acts not implicit in their assigned duties. Their contributions
contributed, to an exceptional degree, in accomplishing the purposes of National Sojourners, Incorporated.
Exceptional Meritorious Award
QUALIFICATIONS: Those who chair meetings and functions and produce measurable results at the Chapter
level and above. This award may be for noteworthy performance which contributed significantly to the
accomplishment of the Purposes of National Sojourners, Incorporated.
Certificate of Appreciation:
QUALIFICATIONS: Those members who attend Chapter meetings and attend and support functions outside
of the Chapter. Ladies who are always there to help their Sojourner, the Chapter, and attend Area or National
Events. Non-Sojourners who are worthy of recognition for supporting Americanism, Patriotism, Youth
Leadership, and the Purposes of National Sojourners. The Certificate of Appreciation may be awarded to any
individual, Chapter or group, whether or not directly associated with National Sojourners, Inc., in appreciation
of significant contributions to the order. Mere meeting attendance is not a justification for an award—the
person actually needs to contribute something to further our purposes.
PLEASE REMEMBER, Ladies and non-Sojourners are only eligible for a Certificates of Appreciation.
And, this award should be given at the local level.
