When Should/Could Chapters Celebrate? For Chapters chartered in 1918-23 (Chicago-#13), it is not too late to
celebrate. For Chapters chartered in 1924 (#14-#27), you are approaching your Centennial date to plan the Anniversary
Event. The best times to celebrate are 1) on the exact date of chartering, or 2) at a Chapter meeting date in that month.
For bi-monthly or quarterly Chapters, plan a special meeting for the founding month—make it special.
How Should/Could Chapters Celebrate? At a minimum, announce the Centennial Celebration to all members,
Regional, Area, and National leadership. Have a historical program (10 to 15 minutes) to honor your Chapter’s
founders and more recent, stalwart members, who entrusted the Chapter’s future to your safekeeping; have an
Anniversary Cake; take pictures; submit an article with pictures for The Sojourner and thank every current member for
his role in delivering your Chapter to its Centennial and the next generation of Sojourners. Consider re-obligating every
Sojourner so all remember their charge. Lastly, consider documenting your Chapter’s history. If your Chapter does not
have one, the best time to build one is now. If your Chapter has a written history, ensure it is up to date. It is your
legacy and worthy of your efforts. Congratulations on your Chapter’s Centenary Anniversary!!!
