3.3 Food and Nutrition Security
According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), food security exists when all
people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food
that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life (FAO, 2003).
Meanwhile, nutrition security emphasises more on diet quality in terms of variety, diversity,
nutrient content and safety to meet their dietary needs, coupled with a sanitary environment,
adequate health, education and care (CFS, 2011). The four key dimensions of food security are
availability, accessibility, utilisation and stability (Rainer G et. al, 2000).
