Participation at the international and interreligious dialogue/forum
From October B.E. 2559 (2016) to October B.E. 2561 (2018), The WFB had organized,
co-operated, and participated at the following gathering as follows:
The XVI Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of the Leaders of World
and Traditional Religions organized by Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana from
17-18 May B.E. 2560 (2017) of which participants from various religions and
traditions including representatives from several countries shared their perspectives on
international interfaith of religions and culture enabling co-operation among diversified
and contradictory society. H.E. Phan Wannamethee, President of The WFB, had
assigned Phra Shakyavongsvisuddhi (Anil Sakya), Advisor to the President of The WFB
and Rector of the World Buddhist University (WBU) represented him and The WFB
Headquarters attending the Congress.
The 30 Anniversary of the Religious Summit Meeting on Mt. Hiei was held

from 3-4 August B.E. 2560 (2017) at Kyoto International Conference Centre and the
Ceremony of Interreligious Prayer for World Peace at Enryakuji Temple, Mt. Hiei. The
gathering had given the opportunity for people from different religions, denominations,
and beliefs to share their perspective on world peace.
International Peace Conference 2017 was held at the Headquarter of the United
Nations of Education, Science, and Culture Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, France
from 27-29 September B.E. 2560 (2017) organized by The WFB with the co-operation
of the Royal Thai Embassy and Office of Permanent Delegation of Thailand to UNESCO
including Pure Land Learning College Association Inc. (a Regional Centre of The WFB
in Australia). Theme of the conference was ‘Creating Sustainable Society of Peace: A
Legacy of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand’ presented by Mrs. Irina Bokova,
Director-General of UNESCO, international diplomats, and renowned scholars who
paid tribute to His Majesty for his initiative of Sustainable Economy Philosophy that
made people survive from economic crisis and better their standard of living at the same
time. At the conference, Phra Shakyavongsvisuddhi (Anil Sakya), Rector of WBU,
was invited as one of Keynote Speaker to present this philosophy that applied ‘Middle
Path’ (Majjhimāpatipadipadā) of Buddhism to Sustainable Economy Philosophy and
developed it for more than 60 years to create balanced and sustainable development to
people of all levels in society to cope with rapid changes of the world in all aspects. This
philosophy is in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals in the framework of the
United Nations Organization. Several Regional Centres of The WFB also participated
at the Conference namely
