service companies of any law firm.

After receipt of the statutorily required Lien Notice, the pipeline owners were very
displeased to learn that the contractor they had entrusted with this large job was not paying

its subcontractors, giving the pipeline a bad name, and resulting in liens that violated the

covenants the owners had with their major lenders. Our Client got paid in full without the
need to file a lawsuit.

The Debtor paid up with the statement that the matter had “ruined lives and relationships”

for the company. Perhaps he learned a lesson for the future.

THE OPERATOR-ONLY LIEN

A mineral lien was originally filed only against the Operator and one of its affiliated

companies, who had hired our oilfield services company Client for work on an oil well –
an “operator-only lien.” Ordinarily, after the firm conducts research, a mineral lien extends

to both the operator and all the owners of the mineral interest where equipment and services
