                                   Introduction-General Rules for Maintenance Operations

                                            •  Take effective measures after a complete symptom analysis
                                               and diagnosis.
                  Removal & installation    •  Before removing a part, check its general situation and for

                                            •  Clean removed parts as needed. Do not install them until a

                                               in accordance with the instructions in this manual.
                                            •  Put replaced parts properly in order to show and let the
                                               customer know them.


   01     (b)   Jacking up and supporting your vehicle
                •       Be sure to take special care when jacking up and supporting your vehicle and ensure
                        that the operations are made at correct positions. (Refer to “Chapter 01
                        Introduction-General Rules for Maintenance Operations, Lifting and Supporting
                        Positions on Your Vehicle”.)

          (c)    Precoated parts
                •       Precoated parts refer to the parts (e.g. bolts and nuts) that have been coated with
                        sealant before delivery.
                •       After a precoated part is loosened, retightened or moved in any way, be sure to recoat
                        it with designated sealant.
                •       When a precoated part is reused, be sure to clean old sealant and blow-dry using
                        compressed air, and then apply designated sealant to its bolts, nuts or threads.

          Notice:
          Check torques according to lower limits of torque requirements.
                •       When using sealant, sometimes you should wait for a period of time until it cures.

          (d)    Gaskets and washers
                •       Add seal rings on gaskets and washers as needed in order to prevent oil leak.
          (e)    Bolts, nuts and screws
                •       Tighten using torque wrench in strict accordance with specified tightening torques.
