                                   Introduction-General Rules for Maintenance Operations

                                                      (i)    Using a torque wrench with extension handle
                                                             •   When a torque wrench with special service
                                                                 tool or extension handle is used, it indicates
                                                                 that the actual torque has been excess if the
                                                                 torque indication on the wrench reaches the
                                                                 specified value.
                                                             •   In this manual, only the torque values
                                                                 requiring    special    explanations    are
                                                                 described.    When such a wrench is used,
                                                                 please calculate its torque value according
                                                                 to the following formula.

                                                             •   Formula: T’= T × L2/(L1+L2)

                                                      2.     Electric control
                                                      (a)    Disconnecting and connecting battery negative
                                                             cable
                                                             •   Before starting an electrical maintenance
                                                                 work, be sure to  disconnect battery
                                                                 negative (-) cable in order to prevent
                                                                 burning accident caused by short circuit,
                                                                 etc.


                                                             •   Before disconnecting and connecting a
                                                                 battery cable, be sure to turn off ignition
                                                                 and lighting switches and loosen fixing
                                                                 nuts of the cable completely. Never twist
                                                                 and pry it.
                                                             •   After the battery cable is disconnected,
                                                                 records of clock and radio, etc. will be
                                                                 cleared. Therefore, you should check such
                                                                 facilities as clock and radio and make
                                                                 corresponding records before such an
                                                                 operation.
