Introduction-General Rules for Maintenance Operations
(b) Operating electrical components
• If not specially needed, never open
control module housing (if you touch
an IC pin inadvertently, it may be
damaged by static electricity).
• When disconnecting a harness
connector, be sure to pull it instead
• of harness.
Operate with care. Never drop any
electrical component (e.g. sensor or
relay). If dropped to a hard ground
inadvertently, be sure to replace
without reusing it.

• When cleaning your engine using
steam, be sure to protect electrical
components, air cleaner, and
emission control system related
components from being affected by
water vapor.
• Never use an impact wrench to
removal and install any temperature
control switch or temperature sensor.
• When checking continuity of a
harness connector, be careful to
insert a probe so as to avoid pin
distortion or damage.
• After replacement of an electrical
component is completed, be sure to
check its functions in order to
ensure its normal functioning.
3. Removal and installation of fuel control system parts
(a) Worksite notices for removal and installation of fuel system parts
• Be sure to select a well-ventilated place where there is not any facilities or objects that
may cause open flames around, including welding, grinding machine, electric drill,
electric motor and oven.
• Never select a refueling station or a place around it because evaporative fuel may have
occupied the whole space.
(b) Removal and installation of fuel system parts
• Be sure to get fire extinguishers ready before any operation.
• To prevent generation of static electricity, be sure to ground the vehicle and fuel tank,
etc. In addition, do not splash water so as to prevent contact from sliding.
• Never use any electric appliances like an electric motor or work light so as to avoid
generation of sparks or high temperature.
• Never use an iron hammer in order to prevent generation of sparks.
• When discarding things, be sure to separate rags from fuel.
