Theme 4: Create and establish a functional SmartHub in all Schools.
The Board will establish SmartHubs to provide hands-on, creative opportunities for students to design,
experiment, build, and invent while immersing themselves in information technology, science, engineering,
and tinkering. The end result will be world-class coding, robotics, virtual reality, animation, and 3D printing,
among other things.
Theme 5: Establish a Catalog of IT Services and Timely Service Provisioning, Clarifying
Roles of Individual Organizations and Central IT
There is considerable uncertainty in Regent schools regarding the types of information technology services
that are required and who is responsible for providing them. Provisioning and de-provisioning IT services
are not managed according to a standardised or documented methodology. The Regent School will
develop an IT service catalogue, determine the most efficient method of delivery, and define the
responsibilities of IT personnel. The Regent School will provide many of these IT services via automated
workflows that require little or no manual intervention.
Theme 6: Modernize Administrative Systems to Improve Administrative Work and
Decisions
The Regent School's administrative functions in the areas of student, financial, facilities, auxiliary, human
resources, and other support services must be performed at a low cost via effective technology. The IT
Team will investigate and develop long-term business applications while simultaneously reducing
maintenance costs. To facilitate decision-making, to develop a comprehensive data warehouse and data
analysis tools, and to position The Schools to consider implementing community-sourced administrative
computing solutions.
Theme 7: Position school Network Infrastructure for the Future
Staff and students require a robust and secure network to connect digitally and to teach and learn with
other individuals, organisations, systems, and services. The IT Team will work toward a unified school
network through cooperative agreements with vendors by implementing best standards and practises to
improve wired and wireless infrastructure (including emergency communications).
Theme 8: Establish the Proper Balance between Strong IT Security and Increased
Access to Information and Services.
The school community expects sensitive information to be sent and maintained securely, with access
restricted to those who are authorised to have it. Simultaneously, demand for student data is increasing.
This is becoming increasingly difficult in an increasingly risky technological global environment. The
school's information technology security plan, policies, processes, and services will be enhanced to ensure
the protection of sensitive data while allowing appropriate access to individuals who require data access
to make informed decisions and perform their job responsibilities.
