method, I have shared with you, the mindset ceiling must shift. Let
me warn you that it appears easy on paper to do but when you try
to do it; you must maintain the pig-headed discipline to break the
habit. It is like waking up a part of you that has been enjoying
comfortable freedom for years, it would kick and scream. So, when
it seems difficult at the beginning, keep at it because it would shift.
If you need help to do this through coaching, please contact my
team and they would be able to help you.
How to accomplish big things- we are still talking about leading
yourself and if you get this right, everything else in this book would
be easy for you to implement. So, let’s talk about big things now.
No business or person can grow without doing big projects. The
challenge with big projects is that it is daunting for people to even
comprehend. Henry Ford said, ‘No job is too big if you break it
down into smaller bits’ It is what I called ‘chunking’. There is an
African proverb that if we live long enough, we would eat meat
bigger than an elephant’ Let me share this story from a program
on TV about weight loss with you. There is this guy who loves his
burger and he eats nothing else. You can guess what the health
implication of that would be as he is diabetic, he has very high
cholesterol and other health issues. The wife is on the brink of
sacking the man, so he wakes up from his nightmare. As a shock
treatment to get him to see the damage he is doing to himself, they
pack the equivalent of his one-year worth of burger packages and
tipped it down from a truck right in front of him. The man in his
shock starts crying! That single awareness helps him make the
change to a healthier diet. It is the reverse method when it comes
to attempting big projects. So, you take the big project as a whole
and break it down like the one burger package at a time and it
would build up into a trailer of burger packages with time. Time is
the key to the achievement of everything. Stop thinking about the
big project, just take the tiniest part and do it straight away.
Schedule those tiny steps you are going to do daily for 10 days
and you will build momentum towards achieving it. This is the
same way I write my books. I don’t sit down to write 300 pages,
but I just write a page a day and I don’t even think beyond the page
at a time. There are days that I feel inspired and I write 10 pages,
that’s a bonus. What I don’t go below is that one page. Sometimes
I am amazed that I have done 100 pages in such a short time. So,
