Timber Hitch



               A simple but effective way of tying round a log or bundle of

               timber—the more you pull the tighter the log is held. If a log is
               be dragged along the ground, it helps to put an extra half hitch
               further along the log, which gives a directional stability to the

               log as it travels over the ground. The timber Jk
               hitch is also used at the heart of the diagonal \ |j m

               lashing (see page 182).
