                                                             1 Take the working end round the timber,

                                                                 then round the standing part of the rope.
                                                             2 Twist the working part round itself by
                                                                 making tucks round with the working end.

                                                             3 Continue making up the twist until it is
                                                                 about long enough to go round the
                                                                 timber. Pull on the standing part to tighten

                                                                 the hitch.
                                                             4 The finished knot with a half hitch made in
                                                                 the standing part round the timber in the
                                                                 direction that the log will be pulled.
