Overhand Loop Knot
An overhand knot tied in the bight
gives a very simple loop of no great
use. However, a loop made in the
same way with a double overhand
knot makes a good loop in
monofilament nylon fishing line. It
also looks pretty good when an
ornamental loop is required, but do
not expect to be able to untie it.
1 Fold the rope back on itself to make a
bight and then make a crossing turn with
the working end (the bight) underneath.
2 Bring the bight down through the center
of the crossing turn and pull tight.
3 This makes the overhand loop knot.
