Overhand Loop Knot



               An overhand knot tied in the bight

               gives a very simple loop of no great
               use. However, a loop made in the

               same way with a double overhand
               knot makes a good loop in

               monofilament nylon fishing line. It
               also looks pretty good when an
               ornamental loop is required, but do

               not expect to be able to untie it.



               1 Fold the rope back on itself to make a
                   bight and then make a crossing turn with
                   the working end (the bight) underneath.
               2 Bring the bight down through the center

                   of the crossing turn and pull tight.
               3 This makes the overhand loop knot.
