Double or Triple Overhand Noose



       Made in much the same way as

       the Capuchin knot (see page 42),
       this sliding loop or noose grips
       tightly round an object. Tied

       each end of a light line, it is ideal
       for fixing a lanyard fast to the

       arms of sunglasses or reading
       spectacles so they can hang round

       the neck when not in use. By
       carefully pulling on the short

       working end, you will be able to
       ease the grip sufficiently to enable
       the lanyard to be removed.

           The same system but with
       more of the initial turns works

       well as an attachment to fishing
       swivels.



       1 Make a crossing turn with a fairly
           long working end on top.

       2 With your fingers parallel with the
           standing part, wrap round the
           standing part two or three round
          turns.

       3 Put the working end down through
           the ''tunnel” where your fingers have
           been.

       4 Tighten the turns by pulling on the
          working end, working the turns
           snugly together.

       5 The finished knot.
