Single Bowline in the Bight
In many ways this loop is both
a variation on the bowline and
a variation on the figure-of-
eight loop. The strain can only
be taken in one direction, but it
is very useful if you have a very
long rope and you wish to
apply strain along its length.
1 Pull out a bight and fold it away
from the final direction of pull.
2 Bring the bight over then under
the part of rope that is to be
pulled, leaving a loop with one
side doubled.
3 Put the bight down through the
loop.
4 The final knot.
