Crown Sennits
The crown knot made with four
strands in a similar way to page 54
tied on top of itself repeatedly makes
a very great range of interesting and
useful sennits. If the crown knots with
four strands are each made in the
same direction then a round sennit is
created. When each crown is made in
the reverse direction to the previous
crown, then a square sennit is formed.
While it is possible to make a crown
sennit with just three strands, it does
not work very well. However, if it is
made with three pairs of strands pulled
good and tight and worked always in
the same direction, then a handsome
sennit is formed. Four pairs of strands
can be worked in the same manner.

Four-strand round crown sennit
1 Make a four-strand crown knot with the
strands pointing in a counterclockwise
direction. Pull tight.
2 Make another crown in the same
direction on top of the first crown. Pull it
tight to sit neatly on the previous crown.
3 Repeat until the required length of sennit
is made.
