of tucks, then reducing the strand by
half to complete the final round of
tucks.
The splice may be improved by
rolling underfoot when all the tucks
are finished.
5 The strands should now all stick out on
the same level.
6 Tuck the strand over one and under one
just as in the back splice for two more
complete sets of tucks if a natural fiber
and four more sets of tucks if a synthetic
fiber rope.The ends can then be
trimmed—but not too short.
7 The ends may be tapered by dropping
one third of the yarns in each strand and
tucking; then dropping half of those left
and tucking.
