1 Lay the rope over your hand with the

standing part at the front of your hand.
The working part should be long enough
to go loosely round your hand at least
three or four times.

2 Bring the working part up and over the
standing part.
3 Take the working part round the back of

the hand and up to the left of the
standing part.
4 Bring the working part over to the middle

of the two turns.
