Three-Lead, Four-Bight Turk’s Flead

This is one of the simplest of the Turk’s heads to make. It is a ring of three-

strand plait without a start or finish, with four bights on the edge of the ring.
Once the initial knot has been made, it can be followed round to double or

triple it. As well as being a round ring this simple Turk’s head can also be
               flattened into a small mat with a beautiful design. A three-lead, four-bight

Turk’s head, doubled and flattened as below, is the symbol of the International
               Guild of Knot Tyers.
