Pocket Guide to Knots & Splices
1 Take the rope round the hand, over itself,
and round the hand again, passing the
standing part to the right and over—this
is stage two of the three-lead, five-bight
Turk’s head. Then tuck under, over to the
left.
2 Bring round behind the hand and tuck
under, over following the line of the
standing part.
3 Turn the hand; the working part goes
over, then tucks under and over.
4 Bringing the working part on round the
hand and turn the hand back. The
working end should be to the right of the
standing part. Tuck over, under, over
along the "ladder.”
5 Turn the hand again and tuck under, over,
under, over.
6 Turn the hand back; the working end can
now follow the standing part to double
the knot.
7 The completed five-lead, four-bight Turk’s
head.
