Prolong Mat
Start in the middle of the rope with a
carrick bend with the working ends
on the same side, loops can be pulled
out, twisted and ends tucked in the
same way as the ocean mat was made.
The prolong mat has one more bight
or loop on its side than the ocean mat,
and it may also be extended or
“prolonged” in the same way.
1 Start with a carrick bend (see page 114)
with the working ends on the same side.
2 Pull out bights to form “ears.”
3 Twist the “ears” in a clockwise direction.
