Program and Certification Requirements
The program is offered to those graduate students who have:
1. A Master’s degree from an accredited institution;
2. 27 months of satisfactory teaching performance or satisfactory
performance as a specialist as defined by COMAR 13A.12.03; and
3. A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s current supervisor
attesting to the applicant’s leadership ability.
The program at Bowie State University consists of 19 semester hours
of graduate coursework* in administration and supervision as
required by the Code of Maryland Regulation 13A.12.03.
The courses are:
ESAS 722 – School Administration 3 credit hours
ESAS 727 – School Law 3 credit hours
ESAS 731 – Curriculum Design 3 credit hours
ESAS 757 - Clinical Supervision 3 credit hours
PSYC 739 – Dynamics of Group Behavior 3 credit hours
ESAS 855/858 – Practicum/Internship 4 credit hours/2
Practicum I in Administration and Supervision
Practicum II in Administration and Supervision
*COMAR requires 12 semester hours of the total hours require to be
taken at the same institution and BSU limits transfer of cedi into the
program to a maximum of 6 credit hours.
