She Zih Lin Hydrology System of Caogong Ditch

Basin Wetland She Zih Lin Basin Wetland Park which belongs to parts of
hydrology systems of Caogong Ditch, is one of the contributory of
Park upper streams in Love River. After the converge with Love River,

it flows across the center of Kaohshiung City and goes into sea
Kaohsiung City
in Kaohshiung Harbor. Caogong Ditch was the important water
resource of irrigation in the past, but following with the factors of
changes in social formation, the marginal agriculture, decreasing
irrigation water demand and urban sprawl, ditches and wetlands
were gradually contaminated, diminished, even become a filthy
space for storing garbage. Hence, Kaohsiung City Government in
order to provide better living space for the citizens, has underwent
land expropriation to build She Zih Lin Basin Wetland Park
in 2007, and completed in 2009. Not only to retain the original
hydrology system of Caogong Ditch, but also given back the sight
that wetlands should be.

The Magic of Wetlands, the Ability of

Cleaning Water

The overall planning of wetlands should reduce man-made
interference as possible. Except to keep the texture of the original
waterway, the whole space divides into Weald Ecology area,
Ecological Preservation area and Recreational Education area.
The core ecological area has planted largely weald for its location
nearing viaduct, hopefully to block the interference of northern
highway to the environment and reduce the traffic flows of the
tourists. Ecological maintenance area was using terrain design to
dredging the original terrain, and designate ecological floating
island and water plants by using water drop mechanism to obtain
