A Moment of Peace in the City
JingGuo Hsinchu Parkway is a semi-public space shaped by the
authoritarian political atmosphere 30 years ago between the
Parkway section of Dongda Road and Minzhu Road. With copy wood
railings set up on the road side of the community, people could
Hsinchu City only have a "view" of nature from a distance, but not be close to
nature casually. In addition, the stores around the corridor also
take up this space. There are also motorcycles parked illegally on
the side, causing people's traffic flow to be unsmooth. With a past
axis that symbolizes power through the corridor, and the towering
arbors planted on both sides, blocking the sunlight, it has become
a dark corner with puddles here when it rains.
After the designer uses natural power to transform, the thick green
curtain in the past has been opened, so that the sunlight could
be poured in. The flower tables and copy wood railings were then
pushed down, re-introducing the authoritarian space, and making
the public space an asset of people's lives. Nowadays, there is a
spacious sidewalk in Parkway with green turf and trees. Walking
in it, it is visually transparent, and birds are hamming around, as
if you are hiding in the hustle and bustle of the city, and a city
boulevard for citizens, parents and children, and couples to walk in
is formed. Such a transformation has redefined Parkway, and also
explained the real meaning of the space development buffer zone.
