Reproduce the Coherent Life Between Man Vascular Bundle
and Water of the Mother River

The second vascular bundle project is the Diudiudang and Lunar
Landscape
Plaza Project. Since its implementation in 2001, it has started with
Diudiudang Forest, including Yilan Trading Zone regeneration,
Yilan County
Jimmy Park, Fairytale Park, and Happy Station. A series of reforms
have resulted in that places in front of Yilan Station where the
private use of the original public land was flooded, Yixing Road that
needed to be expanded, and some of the skeletons of the warehouses
and dormitory groups along the line have become new pedestrian
attractions that cooperate with artists. After the county government
moved out of the south of the city, Fieldoffice Architects seized a
series of cultural intervention opportunities along Luna Corridor,
extending from Zhongshan Primary School to the opening point of
new Moat River, Yilan Art Museum and so on.

The pedestrian corridor of the Diudiudang Plaza was extended to the
Zhongshan Primary School. The old Moat River of Yilan was called
"Yachishirokawa" in the era of the Japanese occupation. Later, the road was
added to become a culvert. The Vascular Bundle Project then created three
new open moats, which are located in Zhongshan Park, Hualong Village,
and Kuangfu Elementary School. The irrigation water introduced by Yilan
River is cleaner when getting closer to the source, and therefore the city has
more hydrophilic space.
