Performance Between the Trees
Use Art to Make People Come into Contact with Space

Mayor of Hsinchu City hopes that the concept of urban aesthetics could be integrated into
Hsinchu, therefore, a landscape creation team was invited to set up a landscape art work with
the theme of “Performance between the Trees”, so that people walking in Parkway could
be closer to the treetops and create a conversation between the self and the environment
with different perspectives and heights of the landscape art, while enjoying the peaceful
surroundings. Some connections were started between people and trees, each other, and people
and the environment in this open space because of some contacts.

After in-depth investigations and studies from the three landscape creation, six sites were
selected, corresponding to five kinds of trees, that are, Chinese Banyan, Camphor Tree, Green
Maple, Blood Wood Tree and Cotton Tree, to convey a conversation and a transformation.
Three groups and six pieces of landscape works were then created.

Include Creation I : Flourish Bridge, Crescent Moon Bridge, and Willow Bridge,Creation II :
Biofication,Creation III : Humming Birds in the Forests.Through several landscape public art,
using the turning of the path, the looming of the frame, the breakthrough and extension of the
edge, the boundary between publicity and privacy was blurred. Or the bird house installation
is equipped with solar panels on the roof, and a light-sensing controller to form several color
spots floating in the air at night. TO show visitors through different viewing angles and
methods, to presenting the environmental elements of Parkway.(Architect's Magazine, Volume
