Environmental Role Under the
Northern Taiwan Scale
The geological background of northern Taiwan can be
traced back to 2 to 4 million years ago. The orogeny of the
Pacific Ocean began to form a hilly terrain. The eruption
of the northern Taiwanese Datun volcano group and
the Keelung volcanic group formed different geological ⟥⬭㼩⬯乢
features. While the five major mountains of Taiwan were
gradually forming up, the western mountain belt formed
by the fold-thrust fault near the plain in northern Taiwan
悊㰵⭶䲘
has also become the environmental and ecological basis
of the shallow mountain area. Until 60,000 years ago, the
fault zone caused a large fall in the Taipei area. Since then,

the Linkou platform was separated from the Taipei Basin 㙕⊡⊮◮ ⚸敄㼩⬯乢
by a distance of about 200 meters. Since the fall of Taipei
