FALLS PREVENTION

The risk of falls among seniors is a real concern,

and with good reason: nearly 33% of people aged
65 and over living at home have already fallen.

There are three main categories of fall factors:
The individual (loss of muscle strength in the

lower limbs, taking more than three
medications, loss of vision, low blood

             pressure, etc.).
             The environment (unsafe stairs, cupboards
above the stove, loose carpeting, etc.).

             Behaviour (recklessness, impulsiveness, etc.).

An older person's fall can have a range of direct
                      and indirect consequences:

                  Trauma (Fracture, Dislocation, Sprain,

                                     Wound).
               Psychic (Anxiety, Insecurity, Demotivation,

                              Loss of self-esteem)
