Rākaipaaka and a few other survivors fled back
towards Ōkahukura village. Tūtekohi chased them and

some more were caught and killed.

Luckily Rākaipaaka and Hinemanuhiri managed to cross the Waipaoa

river and run out of Tūranga into freedom. And so was the migration of
Rākaipaaka and Ngāti Kahungunu from the lands of Tūranga.
