When Tūtekohi awoke in the morning he called for his dog. When it didn’t appear, he
went to look for it. Kauerehuanui was nowhere to be seen. He knew something was
wrong. Who was responsible for this? Rākaipaaka was there and so Tūtekohi decided
that he was to blame. Rākaipaaka was scared and ran back to his own village.
