In days of old lived a chief called Tūtekohi.
Tūtekohi was a very important chief. His
village was Whenuanui and he had a pet dog
called Kauerehuanui.
Rākaipaaka was another chief of the time. He and his sister Hinemanuhiri
lived at their village Ōkahukura. He was a humble man who believed in peace.
