One particular group of visitors arrived there from Te Māhia. Their chief was Whakaruru-a-
nuku and on arrival to the village they were invited to eat with their hosts.
Tūtekohi fed his dog the best food while the leftovers were given to
the guests. Whakaruru-a-nuku was insulted by this and so he
angrily left to go home.
