Later, Rākaipaaka arrived and was hosted by Tūtekohi at his village.
He observed Tutekohi and Kauerehuanui playing.

Here he saw the love of a master and his pet. The dog received the best food and

the guests got the leftovers. However, unlike the others Rākaipaaka was humble

and didn’t mind too much. When the day was over they all fell asleep.
