Introduction
The natural wold includes the
biotic (plants, fungi, animals, and 1
microbes) as well as the abiotic
(air, water, soil, etc.) components
existing in nature. The presence and
interactions between and among the
biotic and abiotic components shape
the natural world which may be
partitioned into a variety of habitats
and ecosystems. Both the biotic
and abiotic components, hence the
natural world, may change over time
due to changes to the habitats.
