TE ST 6. Checking the Voltage Drop to Ground
To check the voltage drop to ground, connect the voltmeter between the battery negative terminal and the starter
ground (commutator end bracket), as shown in Fig. 5. When starter operating switch is closed the voltage reading
should be practically zero.

TE ST 7. Checking Ground Connections
Connect the voltmeter between the chassis of the vehicle and the battery earth terminal (Fig. 6). Operate
the starter. Once again note the reading.
