value of the whole individually validates each of the works which are part of them and give the
impression of a more integral achievement.

We think that the moment has come to recommend to the organizers of international salons to specialise
their events, as well for the theme, as for the admitted technical processes.

So it will also be easier for the jury to establish a fair judgement.

On the other side, the visitors to exhibitions, familiar with the harmony of the presentation in museums
and in galleries, will be more motivated in appreciating the exhibitions and the international salons.

A salon with free theme and also unrestricted for the used techniques, will always give to the visitors of
the exhibition the impression of a conflict of ideas and of techniques.

We consider that for improving the level of international salons, it would be better to choose a unique
theme - taken in a large meaning - and also to notify the preferences of the organizers for the techniques
to be used by the photographers.

Very clear directives about the theme and the technique will avoid a mixing of subjects and styles and
will improve the impact of the human and artistic message of the event.

For a minority of organizers these guidelines are superfluous because their good sense has brought them
already to a specialisation of the themes; others have chosen for creative photographs which ask for new
techniques or they have created a special section for the works made by non classic processes. Theme,
technique and presentation constitute the trilogy able to raise each photographic event to the level of any
other artistic event.
