Topic: Major Domains of the Earth - Lithosphere

1. The solid portion of the earth, Lithosphere has 3 important layers. This
concept was introduced by cutting a muskmelon in the class. Students got
a clear idea about the internal structure of the earth and were able to
compare the different layers. Next day they explained it with the help of an
egg.
2. In the second experiment, students learnt about the movement of the

lithospheric plates over geological time. Thermocol and hard paper pieces
were considered as tectonic plates and water as liquid mantle. This activity
helped them to understand that earthquakes and volcanoes are the result
of such plate movement.
