Activity: Dissolving a coloured powder or coloured liquid in water
Description of the activity:
The young scientists from our class IX actively participated in deducing the nature of
the particles which constitute matter with the use of simple substances present around
them. They realized that the dissolution of sugar or ink or turmeric powder in water
has such a big mystery to tell them. The students didn’t just learn matter as solid, liquid

and gas but also imbibed the knowledge within them as values for lifetime -
 Concepts to be as strong as solids
 Attitude to be as water
 Quest to acquire knowledge to be as air
 Further, diffusion of one state of matter into other actually explains the need for
each individual to actively interact, participate in all the social activities around
them, in order to create a harmonious society.
