CANCER COMMITTEE HOSTS CELEBRATION
BRUNCH
On April 13, 2024, the District 20-K1 Cancer Committee closed
the Lionistic Year with a Celebratory Brunch themed “A Year of
Impact – Honoring Our Journey Together”.
This Committee has every reason to celebrate as they surpassed
the District Governor’s target goal of retrieving our standing as a
Flagship Sponsor with the American Cancer Society. This
achievement is impressive because this noteworthy cause has
been DG Antonio’s Signature Project!
Under the leadership of Lion Donarie Fenton, this 25-member
DG thanks Lion Donarie for her service
team raised a total of $25,547.22 (including club donations of
$11,373.00.) Kudos to the Leos, who were challenged to raise
$2,500.00. Their Bottles and Recycling Drive netted $3,435.00.
The highest contributors were Richmond Hill-South Ozone Park
Leos, followed by Flushing Central Leos and Brooklyn First
Responders Leos.
Representatives from the American Cancer Society, Ms. Renee
Regnier (Brooklyn ) and Ms. Michele Steigerwald (Queens),
celebrated the partnership with the Lions and Leos of Brooklyn
and Queens. They acknowledged DG Antonio Robles and Lion
Donarie Fenton for “inspiring others through service” and
presented each with a commemorative plaque. All Clubs that
donated to the Cancer Fundraiser received a Certificate of
Lions partner with American Cancer Society Appreciation. Cancer survivors were decorated with a celebratory
to make strides against cancer
white ribbon sash inscribed with pink letters, “SURVIVOR”
Let all the Lions and Leos congratulate Lion Donarie Fenton and
the Cancer Committee with a BIG ROARING CHEER for an
outstanding accomplishment!!!!
