            CORNERSTONES OF CONFERENCE 2021


                            GAT Conference In A Nutshell



       The first virtual Halloween GAT conference was conducted on Saturday October 30 , 2021.

      The conference was called to order at 8:45 a.m. by PDG Melissa Torres with  over one hundred and twenty-five Lions in attendance.
      Region Chair  Ty’East Alleyne-Bobb served as Mistress of Ceremony.

      Region Chair Arlene Punnett proclaimed The Lion’s Prayer and Zone Chair Sylvester Gbewonyo led everyone in the declaration of the
      Pledge of Allegiance.

      First VDG Ingrid Andrew-Campbell recognized the dignitaries and Second VDG Antonio Robles acknowledged the Clubs.
      Each  Global Committees presenter was allowed a 3 minute report.

      The Chair of the Spanish GAT Committee, Lion L. Esther Paulina San Roman and the Spanish clubs were assigned to a break-out
      room to conduct the business of the conference in Spanish.
      GLT Chair,  PDG Melissa Torres spoke briefly about  her role and the committee  members elaborated on the characteristics of
      leadership.
      GMT Chair, PDG Pauline C. Francis introduced her committee and they explained the importance of orientation, recruitment and
      retention.

      PDG Audrey Doorn, GST Chair, delivered a powerful explanation about the value of service reporting on MyLion.
      “Campaign 100” was the focus of PDG Barbara Moody, LCIF Chair.  She outlined the criteria for becoming “A Model Club” and the
      different ways in which one could contribute to LCIF.

      These intense sessions were followed by a much-needed break.
      When the conference resumed, PDG Jacqueline Williams and her committee clarified the requirements and procedures for establishing
      new clubs.  This session ended with a  brief Q & A.
      Then it was time for the parade of Halloween costumes.  The “Judge” Lion Haydee Llanos selected the winners for first, second and
      third prizes.
      Lions Tracy Jones-Walker and Sharon Shields performed a skit to demonstrate an easy “elevator speech” to explain Lionism and
      encourage member recruitment.

      DG Anthony Cochran delivered closing remarks and  Region Chair Ty’East Alleyne-Bobb prayed the benediction. The conference
      adjourned at 1:30 p.m. Overall, it was an awesome event!
