QUEENS UNITED: “BREAKING BREAD AND BUILDING BONDS”
A Heart-warming story
Queens United Lions Club reached out to principals
from two neighborhood schools, who identified families
with pre-school children who are most at risk for not
having a traditional New York style Thanksgiving
meal.
The club decided to spend Thanksgiving Day together
as a family at VFW Post 150. Veterans and their
families were invited to enjoy dinner with some of our
club members who would otherwise be alone for the
holiday.
Each guest was encouraged to bring personal
containers for “left overs”, But the “real miracle” of the
holiday happened when Lions took their containers of
food to William F. Moore Park across the street and fed
47 homeless men and women.
