ALEXANDER T. WELLS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
Alexander T. Wells was District Governor of District 20 in New York in 1929. District 20 was
the entire state of New York from 1921 until 1938. PIP Wells was a member of the Long
Island City Lions Club, an attorney and lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY. Elected as
International President of Lions International at the International Convention held in
Pittsburgh, PA, July 18th – July 21st , 1939, Alexander T. Wells was Lions Clubs
International 23 rd President, serving the organization from 1939 to1940.
KNIGHTS OF BLIND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
This award is a unique opportunity for the Officers and members of your Lions Club should
be proud of this to honor an individual, organization or business for their achievements.
The Knights of the Blind Award was established in 1999. The award honors outstanding
Lions, non-Lions, organizations, or businesses who perform exemplary service to a club,
district or community. These honorees possess the highest examples of good character,
ideals, purpose, and service.
DISTRICT 20-K1 CORNERSTONE SERVICE AWARD
Lions District 20-K1 Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that assists in the
support of charitable efforts of the Lions Clubs of District 20-K1. The District 20-K1
Foundation was established in 2005 and supports the Brooklyn and Queens community
through funds contributed by Lions Clubs, individual members, private citizens, businesses,
and benefactors. Donors can receive a tax exemption. The foundation has grown and is
appreciated by the people whose lives have been, or are being changed by its projects.
PID Bob Libin, PDG Joseph Faber, PDG Leroy Foster, PDG Earl Williams, PDG John W.
Noel, Jr., and PDG Jerry Killebrew were the corner stones of our foundation.
PDG EARL & PDG RUTH WILLIAMS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
AWARD
Past District Governors Earl & Ruth Williams served District 20-K1 for over 30 years and
distinguished themselves in service and membership. The Earl & Ruth Williams
Distinguished Service Award recognizes Lions with over 25 years of service who have
contributed substantially to their club’s service agenda. The award also acknowledges
contributions to community and to the district. The recipients of this award have
demonstrated a tremendous passion for serving others.
