GOVERNOR’S
MESSAGE
District Governor Anthony Cochran
welcomed the online participants and
proceeded to enthusiastically congratulate
and applaud the honorees for their selfless
acts of humanitarian service. He pointed
out that this is an opportunity to publicly
celebrate the excellence and
achievements of those Lions who have
been selectively identified by their
respective clubs.
He referenced IP Doug Alexander’s
declaration that the new year is an
appropriate time to enjoy fellowship as we
celebrate our past accomplishments. But it
also offers an opportunity to reflect on the
future and build new successes and be
ready to take impactful action every day.
DG Anthony encouraged all District 20-K1
Lions to continue partnering with churches
and other public or private community-
based organizations, with the goal of
evolving and adapting in our ever-changing
communities. We expect “Growth Through
Service……Teaming Together”.

(Summary)
IPDG Jacqueline Phillips greeted and thanked DG Anthony
Cochran for the privilege to host this event. Then she
congratulated the honorees for their dedication to
humanitarian service. She further expressed her
appreciation to the planning committee, with special
acknowledgement to the technology team for their
production expertise that contributed to the success of this
event.
With a warm welcome, she greeted the 140+ online
participants who represented 75 clubs.
She recalled, “despite the challenges of serving safely
during the pandemic season of 2020 - 2021, all Lions, but
especially today’s honorees, adopted new approaches to
providing diverse humanitarian service with “Kindness,
Humility and Love” to our various vulnerable communities.”
With a focus on developing pathways to self care and
psychological resilience, a. team of seasoned, professional
mental health care providers was appointed. They offered
strategies to reduce stress as Lions ventured out to
perform acts of humanitarian service in the underserved
community. This was a relevant Signature Project that
proved to be strategic for such a time as this. She
continued to reminisce with pride, that with 217 new
members, 163,000 persons were the beneficiaries of our
humanitarian service.
“Today” she concluded,,”I salute the humanitarian effort of
every Lion whose service record has been recognized by
your respective club. You uncovered diverse opportunities
to selflessly serve the less fortunate during this perplexing
and taxing past year. The journey has been rough and we
lost many of our “foot soldiers”of Lionism, our friends and
beloved family members. Today, we remember them too,
for their philanthropy, volunteerism and acts of kindness..”
