“Even the strongest blizzard starts with a single snowflake” (WE SERVE!)
Christmas 2021 will be remembered for a long time by over five
hundred young children who live in Richmond Hill/Ozone Park,
Queens NY. They were holiday guests of the Richmond Hill-S0uth
Ozone Park (RHSOP) Lions Club (one of the most active
community-based organizations) and the NYPD’s 106 Precinct.
On Thursday December 16, they were celebrated with a sumptuous
dinner and age-appropriate holiday gifts. It was even more thrilling
when Santa. ( played by District 15 NY State Senator, Honorable
Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.,) strolled in with his huge sac of goodies and
toys. The senator was equally excited and relished the opportunity
to spend time with his young constituents and their parents. Other
participants who entertained the children included Lion Joann
Ariola, (RHSOP member and Council member- elect for District 32 ).
She engaged the children and families with conversation and
laughter, reassuring them of her continued commitment to the
community.
The Precinct Commander and his management team, including
Detective Brenda Reddick, were also knee deep in toys or serving
refreshments to the children.
Even after eight years of celebrating holiday events, RHSOP Lions
are still enthralled by the smiles of joy and appreciation on the
innocent faces of their youngest neighbors. “This service project
lights up our lives, long after the event is over”.
All the toys were donated by RHSOP Lions and their supportive well-
wishers.
